Token Seed Formats for Your Feitian OTP Tokens
Why are we asking about the seed format? Most companies use Feitian OTP tokens with popular applications such as Microsoft Azure/Entra, Sophos, or privacyIDEA to ensure strong two-factor authentication (2FA). Other organizations—such as universities, research centers, or government agencies—use applications they have developed in-house. Regardless, every application requires a so-called seed (secret) to integrate the token correctly.
We will provide you with the seed file free of charge and in encrypted form in one of the following formats when you place your order: Base32, HEX, XML, or PSKC.
The required seed format depends on your target application. PCP provides a complete overview of commonly used applications (see table above). If you do not know the correct format or did not specify it on your order, we will contact you automatically. Please include your contact number on the order.

Under certain conditions, you can use the same Hardware Token for 2FA in multiple applications at the same time. The prerequisite is that all applications support the same token type—the seed format does not have to be identical.
The benefit for you: You reduce the number of tokens per employee, thereby lowering operating costs without compromising security.

After we ship the Hardware Tokens, you will receive an email from us containing a secure, personal link to your dedicated seed file. The file is encrypted and can only be accessed via this link.
We will send you the corresponding password via a separate channel:
- Via text message to your cell phone number, or
- To a second email address (e.g., a coworker) –
- Never to the same address to which the download link was sent.

For customers who want to program their own seeds onto the tokens, PCP offers the Feitian C200 NFC token. Using a Google or Windows app, you can easily load your own seeds onto the token. To do this, you’ll need either:
- An Android smartphone with NFC capability, or
- Our R502-CL NFC reader—which connects to your Windows computer via USB-A as a plug-and-play device.
