Feitian BioCard – The biometric FIDO2 smart card with a Fingerprint Sensor for Passwordless Authentication without a PIN

Traditional authentication using a PIN or password has a major weakness: it can be forgotten, stolen, or compromised. The Feitian BioCard solves this problem in a radical way: As a biometric FIDO2 smart card in credit card format, it completely replaces PINs and passwords with the user’s Fingerprint—secure, fast, and absolutely user-friendly.

Fingerprint Instead of a PIN: Biometrics Built Right into the Card

At the heart of the BioCard is an integrated Fingerprint Sensor embedded directly into the card’s surface. Fingerprint recognition and processing take place entirely within the card —the biometric data never leaves the device and cannot be read by any software or person. Up to eight Fingerprints can be registered on the card. The card’s operating system is based on Feitian’s FT-JCOS Java Card OS and provides a flexible platform for various applications.

FIDO2 and NFC for logical and physical access

The BioCard supports FIDO2 for logical access —passwordless authentication for web services, enterprise applications, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure Entra ID, OKTA, and Ping Identity. Via the integrated NFC interface (13.56 MHz, MIFARE/DESFire), the card can also be used Contactless for physical access control systems, time and attendance tracking, and other RFID-based infrastructures. It thus combines digital identity and physical building access in a single card—ideal as a multifunctional corporate ID card.

Flexible registration methods and LED status indicator

Fingerprint registration can be performed in several ways: using an offline USB sleeve accessory, via a smartphone with the Fingerprint Card Manager app (iOS/Android), using a smart card reader on Windows, or via a Bluetooth card reader. Three status LEDs (green, blue, red) indicate the card’s operating status at all times—success, Bluetooth activity, or an error—at a glance. Important: The card itself does not contain a battery and requires the optional USB sleeve accessory for power during Bluetooth-based operation.

Microsoft-validated, FIDO AL1-certified, and customizable

The Feitian BioCard is FIDO Authenticator Level 1 (AL1) certified and verified by Microsoft —it works seamlessly with Windows Hello for Business and Microsoft Entra ID. Optionally, the card can be customized with a company logo, employee photo, name, and other information—making it perfect as a personalized, biometric corporate ID card. A payment chip can also be integrated as an option.
